George Raymond Heines Sr, age 84, of Jacksonville, Florida passed away on Tuesday, November 22, 2022. He was born in Miami, FL to the late Dr. Lester Heines and Frances Lillian Snyder. Aside from being born in Miami he lived in Jacksonville his entire life.
Very early on George began his working career, delivering newspapers door to door around the age of 12 to help support the family. He also was a Milk Delivery Man (glass bottles era), Owens Pharmacy (57-58).
In the 60’s-FL East Coast Railway Railroad and in 70’s-mid 80’s, built elevators and escalators with the National Elevator Industry. When he retired he created his own business of George’s Scissor Sharpening in the early 90’s until 2013.
He was a very HARD working man, always PROVIDED for family, very loving and a giving man from his heart. George was a very good Dad to us and took care of not only us, but his Mother, sister, and beyond.
George loved his Blue Jeans and Snap Shirts. He never wore a shirt without a pocket.
George was predeceased by his wife, Agnes, whom he married January 10, 1959 and they were married almost 50 years before she passed.
He is also preceded in death by his daughter, Monica.
He is survived by his 3 children: George R. Heines Jr., Teresa E. Nolan, and Yvonne Elizabeth Sexton (Son-in-Law, Jim K. Sexton); 5 grandchildren: Patricia E. Nolan, Tessa E. Heines, Michael J. Osterhout, George R. Heines III and Zachary J. Sexton; and a host of extended Family and Friends.
A visitation for George will be held 6-8 PM, Tuesday, November 29, 2022 at Hardage-Giddens Rivermead Funeral Home, 127 Blanding Blvd, Orange Park, FL. A funeral service will occur 10 AM, Wednesday, November 30, 2022 at St Matthews Catholic Church, 1773 Blanding Blvd, Jacksonville, FL. Burial will follow in Jacksonville Memory Gardens.
