He was born in Queens, New York on October 1st, 1951.
Norman graduated Farmingdale High School in New York and went on to receive certification from the Police Academy in Florida.
Norman was a police officer for 38 years including DeLand Police department, Volusia County Corrections, and over 30 years with Orange County Sheriff's office. During his time with Orange County Sheriff's office he created the World’s Largest Truck Convoy to benefit the Special Olympics. This led to annual fundraising truck convoys all over the country, raising over 5 million dollars. He also assisted in various fundraising events for other organizations. He retired as a Corporal with Orange County Sheriff's office in 2016.
Norman had a passion for classic cars, woodworking, hunting, fishing, watching movies, gardening, cooking, listening to 50’s and 60’s music, playing board/card games, and spending time with family and friends. Christmas was his favorite holiday. He enjoyed playing Santa for children at events and watching Christmas movies throughout the year.
Norman was a kind man who cared for his family, friends, neighbors, and coworkers. If anyone needed anything, he would do everything he could to help them.
He was survived by Daughters Linda Thomas, Amy Edgecomb, Ellen Bentley, and Cara Schneiderhan, and Grandchildren, Mallory Salinski, William Thomas, Savanna Thomas, and Jacob Thomas, Sister Doreen Molano, and Brother Wayne Schneiderhan.
A visitation for Norman will be held Friday, August 5, 2022 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Deltona Memorial Funeral Home, 1295 Saxon Blvd, Orange City, FL 32763. A funeral service will occur Saturday, August 6, 2022 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Deltona Memorial Funeral Home.
