Maria Miguelina Wilson, age 90, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Saturday, March 14, 2020. She was born to the late Jose Ricardo and Asuncion Ramirez on September 29, 1929 in Mayaquez, Puerto Rico.
Maria was affectionally known to everyone as Mickey, which was a nickname her husband gave her. Mickey was a homemaker, who always cared for children. As the oldest, she helped raise her younger siblings. Her family moved from Puerto Rico to Brooklyn New York when she was 17 and this is where she met Westmoreland Wilson, her husband of 48 years.
Mickey and her late husband, Westmoreland Sr. had seven children, the late Anna, Maria, Elizabeth, twins Westmoreland Jr. and Michael, Jose and Cali. She had 9 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Also, a host of Nephews and Nieces.
Mickey enjoyed many years caring for her family, going on road trips and cruising. She will be most remembered for her remarkable cooking. She also loved to sing and dance. Although she had progressive Alzheimer Disease, Mickey continued to sing and dance.
Mom had a few hobbies: Cross Stitch, Embroidery, and Puzzles.
Mickey expressed faith in the Bible’s promise at Job 14:14,15, “If a man dies, can he live again? I will wait…until my relief comes. You, [Jehovah God] will call and I will answer you.” Mickey had faith in the resurrection and believed that she will live again under the paradise conditions promised in the Bible (Ps. 37:9-11).
