Keith Aubrey Osborne was born in the Island of Barbados on April 3th, 1934 to the proud parents Aubrey Byron Osborne and Lyna Lamonte Osborne now deceased. Keith was the third of three siblings, the second of whom passed away on January 12th, 2015.
Keith received his early education from St Matthias and St Lawrence Elementary schools, he then attended Combermere Secondary School on a scholarship in 1946. Keith was a young man of varied interests. He was Champion of Athletics-Division 2 in 1950 and Division 1 in1952. He was also School Vice Captain of Athletics for that year. He was a member of the Cadet Corp for three years, and rose to the rank of Corporal in his last year at school. He also joined B Company in the Barbados Regiment, and was a member of the Barbados Small Bore Rifle Club and The Barbados Rifle Association. He held office as a Prefect and worked as a Library Assistant in school, and in both capacities he showed real sense of responsibility. Finally he was a member of the School Glee Club.
After leaving school he worked for three years at Bruce Weatherhead Pharmacy with the intention of becoming a pharmacist, but then went on to work at the Royal Bank of Canada in Bridgetown as a clerk in the Collection Department for 9 years. He migrated to New York in 1964 to join his parents. He furthered his education at Baruch College and worked at Longines Wittnauer for over 5 years. He also worked at IEEE and finally at Domino Sugar as a cost accountant, retiring in 1966. He met his wife Leota in New York, they were married in 1964. ln 2001 they moved to Florida and built a home in The Reserve at DeBary.
Keith became a Board Member of The Debary Library Association, Inc., and was a prominent member of St Ann's Catholic Church and served as an usher for many years and assisted in The Spaghetti Dinner program held by the church. Keith also served for many years with the Board of Elections and worked his way up to Assistant Clerk. He loved travelling and meeting people and was dedicated to doing community work. Finally, his earthly journey came to an end. He is present with the Lord. Keith has left to mourn his loving wife Leota Osborne and many friends and acquaintances.
A visitation is scheduled for Thursday December 5, 2019 from 4:00 – 6:00 P.M. at the Deltona Memorial Funeral Home, located at 1295 Saxon Boulevard, Orange City, FL 32763. A visitation will be held on Friday December 6 at St. Ann’s Catholic Church, located at 23 Dogwood Trail, DeBary, FL 32713 from 12:00 – 1:00 P.M. prior to the Mass of Christian Burial at 1:00 P.M. A graveside committal will immediately follow mass at Deltona Memorial Gardens, located at 1295 Saxon Boulevard, Orange City, FL 32763.
