Roanoke, Virginia to John J. Cosmato and Florence T. Smith.
He graduated from Truett McConnell College in 1952 with an Associate in Arts degree; from Trinity Baptist Seminary in
1954 with a Bachelor in Theology; from Oglethorpe University in 1956 with a Bachelor of Arts degree; from the New Orleans
Baptist Theological Seminary in 1960 with a Bachelor of Divinity and in 1973 with a Master in Divinity; and from Luther
Rice Seminary in 1974 with a Doctor of Ministry.
Pastor Cosmato preached his first sermon at age 16 where many teenagers accepted Christ as their personal savior. He
was ordained to gospel ministry on April 22, 1951 by the Candler Road Baptist Church in Decatur, Georgia. He served in
various pastoral assignments in Georgia including Decatur,Tallulah Falls, Atlanta, Rex, Rome and Hapeville. Other
ministries were in Ducktown, TN, Hammond, LA, Mobile, AL, Sanford, FL, Lake Mary, FL, Alexandria, VA, Longwood, FL and
Port Orange, FL.
Pastor Cosmato is survived by his loving wife of 63 years Emogene “Emmie” Cosmato; his son Richard Cosmato; his
daughter Catherine Richburg and her husband Victor; his brother Charles Cosmato; four grandchildren; two great
grandchildren; three nieces and three nephews.
The family will receive friends Friday, August 19, 2016 from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM at Deltona Memorial Funeral Home, 1295 Saxon Boulevard, Orange City, Florida. The Funeral Service will follow at 11:00 AM in the funeral home, Pastor Brad Stephenson of Deltona Alliance Church officiating.
Pallbearers will be Michael Scarpone, Jody Pickens, Karl Richburg, Tommy Foggin, Jonathan Richburg and Jordan Richburg.
Interment will be in Deltona Memorial Gardens, 1295 Saxon Boulevard, Orange City, Florida.
