

She graduated in 1952 from Truett McConnell College with an Associate of Arts degree. It was here she met Jay Ted Cosmato and fell in love. They were married on July 10, 1953 and shared 63 years of marriage together.
She held several positions of church secretary in Georgia, Alabama and Florida including at the Rock Baptist Church in Rex, Georgia, Second Avenue Baptist Church in Rome, Georgia, First Baptist Church in Sanford, Florida and First Baptist Church in Port Orange, Florida. She served as a substitute teacher for High School in Alexandria, VA. She held the positions of Administrative Assistant to the Clerk of the Court and to the County Commissioner in Seminole County, Florida. Besides these ministries, Miss Emmie was a choir member, a church pianist, a Sunday School teacher, youth counselor and leader for the Women’s Missionary Union. She also served as a Pink Lady in the hospital. She was a preacher’s wife, a loving mother and grandmother and a good friend. Emmie loved the outdoors. She spent many vacations in the mountains camping with family. She enjoyed her crafts, especially quilting.
Miss Emmie is survived by her daughter, Catherine Richburg and her husband, Victor; three grandchildren; four great grandchildren; three nieces; and three nephews.
A visitation for Emogene will be held Sunday, March 23, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Deltona Memorial Funeral Home, 1295 Saxon Blvd, Orange City, FL 32763. A funeral service will occur Sunday, March 23, 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, 1295 Saxon Blvd, Orange City, FL 32763. A committal service will occur Sunday, March 23, 2025 from 12:00 PM to 12:30 PM, 1295 Saxon Blvd, Orange City, FL 32763.
