Elba Maria Sanabria was born on January 17, 1944 in Brooklyn, New York to parents Elba Maria DeJesus and Louis Adan Sanabria. Her family and friends lovingly knew Elba as Cuchi. She grew up in Brooklyn attending PS 150, and then Junior High School 263 graduating in 1961 from William H. Maxwell High School followed by the start of her career as a Beautician. Cuchi later moved to the Bronx after marrying her husband, Jose Luis Ramos (Chegui). They were married at St. Lucy’s Catholic Church in the Bronx and remained married for 50 years! Elba worked in the Bronx Hunts Point Terminal Market as a Bookkeeper for many years. Cuchi and Chegui continued to live in the Bronx where they raised their two children, Joey and Patty purchasing their first home in 1976. After many memorable years in New York, Cuchi and Chegui journeyed south where in 1994 they purchased a home in Deltona, Florida.
Cuchi was full of life and loved to dance. She was always willing to help, listen and provide guidance. She loved to travel, especially to Puerto Rico. Elba enjoyed spending time with her family and friends entertaining often and I know all will agree was a very good cook! She loved being a grandmother and spending time with her grandchildren, Alyssa and Gabriel. She leaves behind her husband, two children and son-in-law, Angelo who will forever hold her close in their hearts with fond memories and remembrance of love always.
Visitation for family and friends will be Friday May 2nd 4-6 pm with funeral service starting at 6 pm at Deltona Memorial Funeral Home.
