An Independence Day baby, Miriam was born on July 4, 1931 in Upper Sandusky, Ohio to James and Freida (Haas) Lininger. She was a graduate of Upper Sandusky High School. A loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who truly cherished her family and treasured her friends. An amazing cook and baker, especially known at church for her chicken and biscuits, Miriam was known for her hospitality. Most of her life she was a homemaker, loving and caring for her family at home. She was the co-owner of Chips Enterprise and Coffee Service of Mansfield with her late husband, Burdell. She was a member of Ontario United Methodist Church where in her earlier years she was heavily involved with the youth and missions. Miriam enjoyed taking in the beauty of the birds whenever she could.
She is survived by her son, Steve (Alicia) Rupe; granddaughter, Kimberly (Josh) Leedy; great-grandchildren, Graham and Brooks Leedy; and several close nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Burdell James “Buzz” Rupe; daughter, Teresa Kay Rupe; and her siblings, Helen (Clifford) McGinnis, Eula Lininger, Homer (Margaret) Lininger, Paul (Dorotha) Lininger, Ruth Lininger, Richard (Grace) Lininger, and Dorothy (Chester) Lyle.
Graveside services will be held at Mansfield Memorial Park on Friday, March 22, 2024 at 11:00 am with Pastor Christine Bell officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you make memorial contributions to Ontario United Methodist Church, 3540 Park Ave. W., Ontario, OH 44906.
