Mary Lou (Earhart, Lauer) Thompson went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, October 18, 2024. She was 96 years old. She was born in Marion Ohio on September 21, 1928, to Thomas Scott Earhart and Kathleen Wybrew Earhart.
She is preceded in death by her father, Thomas Scott Earhart (Wilda); her mother, Kathleen Wybrew Earhart; her sister, Agnes Earhart and Shirley Eileen Schoenman (Bob); her brothers, Isaac Scott Earhart (Dorothy), Charles Fredrick Earhart, Thomas Jackson Earhart (JoAn), William Victor Earhart (Marilyn), James Eugene Earhart (Verna), Richard Earhart (Shirley Marie), and Robert Earhart (Shirley Kay); her brother-in-law, Harold D. Cotter; her husband, Frederick William Lauer Jr.; her later husband, Stanley Thompson, Sr.; her son, Steven Gregory Lauer (Christine), and her grandson, Bryan Bruce Lauer.
Mary Lou is survived by her son, Frederick Bruce Lauer (Barbara); her grandchildren, Heather V. Fahey (John), Jody B. Rodriguez (Bryan), Jennifer M. Coleman (Lars), Sarah M. Boyd (Christopher), Angela B. Strand (Charles), and Matthew T. Lauer (Gwendoline); her great-grandchildren, Lane, Avery, and Jack Fahey; Paige and Payton Rodriguez; Emily and Lucas Coleman; Carson and Clara Boyd; Brynn, Miraya, and Charlee Strand; Braden Moir and Chase Lauer; and Lochlyn, Taelyn, Callan, and Torran Stevie-Jo Lauer; her sister, Jeanie Cotter (Harold); her sisters-in-law, Verna Earhart, Shirley M. Earhart, and Shirley Kay Earhart; her daughter-in-law, Christine C. Lauer; and many nieces and nephews.
Mary Lou was a member of Grace Brethren Church in Mansfield, Ohio for many years. She married Frederick William Lauer, Jr. in 1946 and they had two wonderful boys, Bruce and Steve, who she was so very proud of. She worked as a secretary for H. B. Electric. In 1988 she moved to Safety Harbor, Florida and worked as a secretary at Clearwater Christian College and for James Bauman, Attorney. She later married Stanley Thompson, Sr. in 1994 and they moved to Spring Hill, Florida where she was a member of Northcliffe Baptist Church.
She was a woman of great faith who believed in the power of prayer. She prayed daily for her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, family members and anyone in need of prayer. In her later years, she loved to listen to Dr. Charles Stanley and Dr. David Jeremiah and watch the Tampa Bay Rays on TV. Mary Lou loved her dog, Barney and had a soft heart for dogs in need.
Friends and family will gather for Visitation Monday, November 4, 2024, at 1:00 PM at 100 South Lexington Springmill Road, Ontario, Ohio. Services to celebrate Mary Lou will follow at 2:00 PM. She will be laid to rest at Mansfield Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to your church or favorite charity.
