David retired from AK Steel where he worked for 30 years as an electrician. David enjoyed his camping life at Lake Erie where he spent a lot of time on his boat fishing for walleye and perch. He enjoyed deer hunting, along with teaching all his kids and grandchildren how to shoot. David and his wife would enjoy a beautiful day riding on their Harley trike with no needed destination in mind. David loved watching his grandchildren play sports, playing, laughing and teaching them anything he could. Christmas was a favorite where he would dress up as Santa beginning with his children and following down to his great grandchildren.
He loved to travel and was able to see much of the world and was proud of his grandchildren who serve in the military. He was a faithful man of God, where he attended New Beginnings Church. He was an active member of the Masonic Lodge.
He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Rose (Stevens) Haycook; children, Angie and Shane Patrick of Shelby, Ohio, Tara and Lief Hartley of Mansfield, Ohio, Michael and Angie Ray of Shelby, Ohio, and Cathy Haycook of Ashland, Kentucky; six grandchildren, Kristin and Matt Rowlett, Briana and Nick Weilbacher, Tori and Kay Howard, Brooklyn Wright, Emily and Matt Gibson, and David Ray; six great grandchildren, Hunter, Denali, Hayden, Adaline, Leo, and Owen; and lastly, his beloved puppy, Tessa.
He was preceded in death by his mom and dad, Paul and Maxine (Compton) Haycook, and his mother-in-law and father-in-law, William and Bernice Stevens.
