He was born October 19, 1939, in Elliot County, Ault, Kentucky, to the late Charles and Elizabeth Middleton Porter and married his sweetheart, Judith D. Flannery on May 8, 1965. He was a family man, honest, a hard worker and proudly served in the U.S. Army. Dale retired from General Motors after 32 years of service and, after that, worked at Lowes.
Dale put his family before himself and would do anything for them. More than anything, he loved when the family came together or any time a family member would come over. He had a garden each year and had a knack for building projects and working on cars. Dale read the Bible through each year and was a Bible teacher at church. He was a member of Zions Refuge in Lucas, Ohio.
Dale is survived by two brothers, Glennis (Arlene) Porter and Raymond “Jewel” Porter; a sister, Eleanor Wilcox; son, Ronald (Loretta) Porter; two daughters, Regina (Bill) Barrett and Amy Farver; five grandchildren, Joshua Porter, Randall Porter, Elizabeth Porter, Jessica Porter and Nicholas Farver; a great-grandson, Ryan Porter; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Judith Porter; five brothers, Clell Porter, Vaughn Porter, Bert Porter, and infants, Ed and Clyde Porter; and fifteen sisters, Joyce Ann Perry, Virginia Waddell, Dixie Manning, Faye Blizzard, Bess Rose, Laura Mabry, Maxine Rose, Elizabeth Bowling, Geraldine Simmons, Gladys Porter, and infants, Bonnie, Glow, Lennie, Mae and Glory Porter.
The family will receive friends from 2:00-4:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 20, 2024, at Wappner Funeral Directors-Ontario, 100 S. Lexington-Springmill Road. The funeral service officiated by Pastor Dave Parsons will be held in the funeral home on Monday at 10:30 a.m. He will be laid to rest in Mansfield Memorial Park with military honors presented by the Richland County Joint Veterans Burial Detail.
