Our beloved mother and grandmother, Alice M. Hellinger, was raised into glory Thursday, February 8, 2024 after a short illness. She was born July 4, 1929 in Crestline, Ohio to H. Albert and DaLee (Vanzile) Beck. She married her sweetheart, Chester N. Hellinger October 23, 1948 and they were married 68 years at the time of his death, January 25, 2017. Together, they raised four children, James A. (Mary Ann) Hellinger, Cynthia K. Phelps, Mark D. Hellinger (deceased) and Evan M. (Susan) Hellinger. Alice was employed for 25 years in the cafeteria with Ontario Schools and was well respected by students and staff, as well as active and well-known in the community. Alice’s family was affiliated with Railroad work through-out the years, so Alice would never fail to get out of her car and wave for the train for respect. Her life revolved around her family and she will be dearly missed by her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by her children, James (Mary Ann), Cynthia, Evan (Susan); grandchildren, Nicole Herring, Chad (Miranda) Fite, Scott (Kristen) Hellinger, Kerri Alice Fite, Justin (Renee) Hellinger, Olivia M. Hellinger; her great-grandchildren, Sierra Hulett, Leyna Fite, Cash and Phoenix Hellinger, C.J., Braedon, Dylan, Emma Lynn Hellinger; and great-great-grandson, Rowen Hulett.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her son, Mark; her parents; brothers, Reverend Edward C. Beck, Thomas A. Beck; great-grandson, Trisen D. Crabtree; and her loving dogs, Baby Gabe and Spanky.
The family will receive guests on Tuesday, February 13, 2024 from 1:00-3:00 pm at Wappner Funeral Directors-Ontario, 100 S. Lexington Springmill Rd. Her nephews, Rev. Jerry Ernst and Pastor Tim Beck will officiate her funeral service per Aunt Alice’s request, following at 3:00 pm. Interment in Ontario Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Richland County Dog Pound, 810 N. Home Rd. Mansfield, Ohio 44906 or to the Mark D. Hellinger Scholarship Fund in care of Ontario Schools.
Thank you Lord for our dear Mother’s long and healthy life. We are blessed!
