Pedro Guevara -- a father -- a brother -- a grandfather -- passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, February 9, 2023 at 7:45PM in Upland, California. He was 82. His last wish was to not die alone… and he didn’t. In his final days, his family (sisters, brother, daughters, sons, granddaughters, grandsons) and friends came from all over to show him their love and pay their final respects.
The doctors and nurses at San Antonio Regional Hospital treated his final days with dignity and compassion. For that, the family will always be grateful.
Pedro was born in Abasolo, Guanajuato in Mexico on April 17, 1940 to Mauro Guevara and Genoveva Cisneros. He was one of 11 children.
The family made their way to the United States through Tijuana, Baja California, settling in San Ysidro, California. As a young man Pedro learned the craft of auto upholstery. In the early 1970’s he settled in Pomona where he co-owned the Pomona Auto Upholstery. The shop specializes in rebuilding classic car interiors. Long after his retirement, Pedro continued his craft by helping friends restore old cars.
Anyone familiar with his personal life would know Pedro lead a very colorful life. It was not like a Norman Rockwell painting but more like a “telenovela”.
Always with a smile on his face, he loved his family, friends, horse racing, and a good bottle of tequila.
May He Rest in Peace.
