Pamela Sue Haynes

Pam was born on February 15, 1951 to Mildred Arlene Smith (née Yoest) and Demery Horatio Smith in Hamilton, Ohio. After graduating from Taft High School in 1969, Pam studied art at the School of The Dayton Art Institute in Dayton, Ohio before moving on to live in Florida, Alaska, Hawai’i, and California.

Pam met Lynn Dale Haynes in 1983 at a dinner party for Dale’s new wave band at the time, The Prisoners. After dinner, Pam and Dale talked through the night and discovered they liked the same music and had other similar interests. They were married in Las Vegas, Nevada at the Little Chapel of the West on July 4, 1985, then later settled down in Ontario, California where they spent 38 loving years together. They enjoyed their dogs, Fiona and Sascha, along with many other animals over the years, beach trips, theme parks, baseball games, music, and beers at Oakland Beach Bar ’n Grill where they would always come together after the work week.

Pam had a passion for all animals, but was especially fond of rabbits. She was an active member of the American Rabbit Breeders Association, showed her rabbits frequently and won many awards over the years. She also loved flamingos, and held an impressive collection of flamingo figurines. Pam was an avid gardener and her backyard was a Certified Wildlife Habitat with the National Wildlife Federation.

Throughout her life, Pam had a wide range of other interests including the Cincinnati Bengals, all things Christmas, country and western music, old movies, shopping, swimming, crystals, the ocean, and spirituality.

Everyone who met Pam quickly formed a deep affection for her young spirit, expressive laugh, incredible hugs, and her sincere care for others. She will always be remembered and sincerely missed.

Pam was preceded in death by her parents, Mildred and Demery Smith, and her brother Kevin Smith. She is survived by her husband, Dale Haynes, her sister Abby Marcum (née Smith), nephew James Jason Zimmer and wife Kelly Walters, niece Kasey Lee Cuppoletti (née Marcum) and husband Daniel Cuppoletti, grandniece Marin Cuppoletti, grandnephew Roman Cuppoletti, father-in-law Lionel Duane Haynes, and sister-in-law Celia Jeneen Smith.

An extra thank you to the medical staff at Kaiser Permanente, special family caregiver Mercedez Mojarro, and everyone who gave love and prayers throughout Pam’s treatment.

Funeral services will be held at Bellevue Memorial Park on Wednesday, May 8, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please make a memorial donation in memory of Pam to National Wildlife Federation at https://support.nwf.org/page/58590/donate/
