Larry Ross Black

Larry Ross Black “Uncle” born to Hodges Alexander Black and Pearl June Ross on February 13, 1946 in Pasadena, CA, passed away August 24th, 2023 after a short illness. Larry’s father passed away when he was 4 and was then raised by his mother and new father Robert W. Carroll. Larry spent most of his life in Southern CA. In 1969 Larry married the love of his life Carole Marie Frank and were inseparable until her death Oct 2nd, 2018 in Mira Loma, CA. Larry then relocated to Arizona to start a new life. Larry retired AAA of So. California and held many different titles in his career. He then fulfilled his dream to open a reptile store for a short time and continued with his many hobbies, love for animals, reptiles, collections and muscle cars. He was the Range Master at the local gun range and a Herpetologist by hobby, President of the Reptile Society, and was affiliated with many colleges, institutes, zoo’s, and reptile groups. He was known to many as well as several celebrities as the “Infamous Larry Black” and “Snake Man” for his beautiful snakes, alligators and unique reptiles. Larry had 3 siblings. Sister Laura Louise- deceased 2005, Sister Lynette Smith- deceased and Sister Janice Lassiter who lives in Wyoming. Larry is survived by his Niece Kristina DeVan and her husband Thomas DeVan. Great nieces Kathryne, Kaylie and Karianne as well as other distant nieces, nephews, family, friends and Girlfriend and loving companion Diana who he met in 2022. Draper Mortuary in Ontario, CA will be handling cremation details. No services will be held as per Larry’s request. A private gathering to join Larry and Carole together will be held at a later date. Rest easy Uncle, we love you and will miss you so very much, especially me, your Kristina “the daughter you never had”! I will continue to share your legacy as our family continues to grow. Thank you for everything!
