On January 6, 2021 beloved mother, grandmother, great and great great grandmother Jeanette “Beppa” (Boersma) Van Dyk was called home to Gloryland at the age of 91.
Jeanette was the eldest of Ted and Katrina Boersma’s six children. Her parents immigrated from Friesland Netherlands and she grew up in the Artesia, CA area along with her siblings Lena (John d.) Bekendam, Andy d. (Grace) Boersma, Thelma (Tony) Blok, Gerald (Judy) Boersma, and Clarissa (Ed) Murphy. Jeanette will always be remembered for her faithfulness to God, devotion to family, and great love and appreciation for America!
Jeanette graduated from Excelisor High School in 1947. After graduation, Jeanette married the love of her life, Bart “Pop” Van Dyk. Anyone who met her knows how much Bep loved Pop. She loved his humor, his faithfulness to God, and his love and loyalty for her. Pop and Bep enjoyed 64 years of marriage before he was called home to Jesus on March 6, 2011.
Bart and Jeanette were blessed with eight children, including seven daughters and one son: Kathy (Lance, d.) Goto, Judy (Sid) Tuls, Becky (Dan) Tillema, Peggy Van Dyk, Bart (Wanda) Van Dyk, Nancy (Scott) Faber, Kristy Gann, and Melany (George) Hilarides. Their children, grand children, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren who total in 96 and counting are their greatest blessings.
Bep was always known as the family’s prayer warrior. She prayed daily up until her death for each of her beloved family members. Her greatest desire was that her family and friends would know and love the Lord.
Bep was a mother, Sunday school teacher, 4H sewing instructor, song leader, and the best sports fan to all her family. She spent countless hours in a gym or on a field cheering on her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Jeanette was a person of great strength and determination. Even as her mind deteriorated, her body showed unimaginable determination to push forward. While she certainly was tough, Jeanette’s heart was pure gold for her family. It melted any time she saw a baby or bid farewell to someone she loved. Bep loved to hold babies and watch the young children play. The Lord’s light shone through her, and she was a blessed woman of God.
Bep, a beautiful, strong, passionate, loving, and devoted prayer warrior was granted her greatest desire and entered the Almighty’s presence. Bep is healed and she is indeed in Glory Land. We rejoice in the celebration of her life and devotion to God. To her legacy of God fearing children, grand children, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. May we always remember her spirit and faithfulness, and continue to pass it along to the next generations. To God be the Glory, great things He has done!
