(Huisman) De Boer in Echten, the Netherlands. He was the second of 6
children, 2 girls and 4 boys. He lived on the family farm in the province of
Friesland until he was around 28 years of age before coming to the United
States of America. Prior to departing on his journey on a ship called
Boschuvan, his mother read Psalms 91. He arrived in America during the
summer of 1954. He lived in several places while working various jobs that
first began with his sponsorship in the state of Ohio. After a short period of
time, George moved to the state of New York where he later traveled with a
Danish student to northern California. He decided to take a two-week course
at UC Davis for Artificial Insemination (A.I.) for dairy livestock. He moved
to southern California to work for Excelsior Farms in Corona, California as
an A.I. specialist in providing Holstein genetic services for over 200,000
cows of dairy business clients in the Chino Valley area during his career. It
was here in southern California that he met Susan Audrey Marsh at a square
dance community event in Riverside, California. They were married on
March 29, 1968 by Reverend Arvin Wester at Chino Valley Reformed
church later called Oaks Community Church. Both George and Susan
enjoyed many wonderful years of marriage together at their home in Ontario,
California. They enjoyed traveling with their fifth wheel trailer as well as
touring to various destinations in both Canada and the United States while
making friendships along the way. They were married for 52 years until
Susan passed away on March 21, 2020. For the last years of his life, George
lived and received assisted care at his home in Ontario, California. He really
liked living there and enjoyed participating in various (church) activities
such as singing in the choir while developing friendships with people from
his church community at both Oaks Community Reformed Church and
Crosspoint Christian Reformed Church in Chino, California. George De
Boer has many surviving family members living in the Netherlands as well as
family through marriage to Susan living in the western region of the United States
which he cherished over his lifetime.
