Dolores “Lola" Flores Gonzalez was born on May 8, 1932, in Los Angeles, California, as the ninth child to Manuel and Lazara Flores. She passed away at home, in Ontario, California, on July 23, 2023. She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul H. Gonzalez; her sons, Patrick and Manuel (infant) Gonzalez; her grandsons, Robert Soto, Phillip Gonzalez, and Paul Anthony Gonzalez. She is survived by her brother, Clifford Flores; sisters, Sophie Seja, Carmen Naranjo, and Lupe (George) Loya; daughters, Martha Gonzalez, Yolanda (Rick) Martinez, Christina (Don) Edwards; sons, Paul (Maria) Gonzalez, Phillip (Liz) Gonzalez; grandchildren, Richard Soto, Reuben (Olivia) Soto, Arthur (Andrea) Piceno, Paula (Martin) Castaneda, Patrick (Samantha) Gonzalez, Marisa Martinez, Sonia Gonzalez, Teresa (Anthony) Acosta, Domenic (Rosie) Gonzalez and Michael (Ariana) Gonzalez; great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Lola grew up in East Los Angeles, in the neighborhood known as Chavez Ravine. In 1950, at the age of 18, she married and moved to Ontario, California, residing there for over 70 years. Lola was a homemaker for many years, supporting her husband and his construction business. Lola began a career at De Anza Junior High School, as a Teacher’s Aide, where she worked for over 20 years. Lola loved gardening in her yard, meticulously caring for all of her plants and flowers. She was a Comadre, Godmother, Auntie, and friend to many. She will be immeasurably missed by us all.
