Clarence Herman Stigge, age 104 died on August 18, 2018 at his home in Chino, California. He was born to Ed and Ida Stigge on February 17, 1914 on the family farm in Barnes, Kansas, the fifth of 16 children.
He was baptized March 1, 1914 and confirmed in 1927 at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Barnes, Kansas. He attended and graduated from Winfield Lutheran College in Kansas. After graduating he taught elementary school in Kansas for several years and worked on the family farm. On October 12, 1941 he married Laura Wiechman. He entered the Army in 1942 and served stateside as an X-Ray technician. After the war Clarence and Laura moved to Wichita, Kansas where he worked at Beechcraft. After several years they moved to Barnes, Kansas where he managed a Phillips 66 service station until 1956. At this time they moved to North Hollywood, California. He began working for Hydro-Aire, a division of Lockheed as a parts inspector. He remained at Hydro-Aire until he retired in 1976. In 1983 they moved to their home in Chino, California to be closer to their 2 daughters, Jan and Trudy. He is survived by his wife Laura, his daughters Trudy (Nicholas) Fotiades, of Prescott Valley, AZ, Jan (Donald) Johnson of Parker, Colorado, sister Mildred (Rueben) Peitz of Graham, TX, grand children Michael (Karla) Amper, Heather (Victor) Marin, Jonathan (Natalie) Amper, Hayley (Thomas) Rothmund, Grant (Jessicarose) Johnson, Alec Johnson, 8 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Clarence was a wonderful example for his devotion to his faith, family and country. His family mourns his death, but rejoices in the fullness of his life that he received through the grace of his Savior, Jesus Christ.
