Carol Ann Spolec

Carol Ann Spolec, beloved mother and Nana, passed away on Wednesday, February 24, 2016 at the age of 74 in Upland, California. Carol was born on July 25, 1941 in Sicily, Italy. As a young child, Carol was adopted by Liberty and Lucille Licata and she moved to the United States. Carol was raised in Chicago, Illinois. She graduated from Harper High School in 1958. Carol married Thomas Spolec on June 30, 1961. Together, they had four children, Barbara, Thomas Jr, (Tommy), Lisa, and Anthony. The family moved to California in 1968, and initially lived in Rosemead. In 1973, the family moved to Upland and this is where many great memories were made.

Carol loved her Upland home. The family home, with its large land, is where she enjoyed her hobbies of vegetable gardening and growing fruit trees. There were many days of school time, and children playing. Carol was a homemaker. Later she entered the work place. Carol retired at the age of 62. She moved back to the Ontario area and lived with her son. Together they enjoyed their animals and cooking together.

Carol leaves behind her daughter Barbara and her husband George A. Thierjung, son Tommy Spolec, daughter Lisa and her husband Anthony Ruiz, and son Anthony and his wife Rhonda Spolec. Carol also deeply loved her grandchildren Rachel, Brianna, Eva and Grace.

Carol left her family many gifts. Each of her children have learned to love the simple things in life, such a celebrating the holidays and the love of holiday decorating. Carol was often seen wearing holiday shirts, sweaters, jewelry, and nail polish. Carol loved going to garage sales and the 99-cent store. She enjoyed sitting outside and watching everyone play in the swimming pool. She was a very generous person. She especially loved her children and grandchildren. Her family loved her so much and she will forever be missed.
