Anthony James Roberts Sr.

Anthony James Roberts, Sr, (Tony, aka Bullfrog) passed from this life peacefully at the age of 94 on November 1, 2024 with his 4 children at his side. He was a recent resident of Brookdale Assisted Living in Garden Grove, California and a long-time resident of Casa Volante Mobile Home Park in Rancho Cucamonga, California. He is survived by his sister Marian Marie Roberts, and his four children Linda Smithson of Trabuco Canyon, California & her husband Tom, Anthony Roberts Jr. of Royse City, Texas, & his wife Ellen, Susan Warner of Kingman, Arizona & her husband Scott, and Cindy Runge of Dana Point, California & her husband Steve, who passed away in 2020. His infant son Danny also passed away in 1957.

He was born in New Orleans, Louisiana on June 1,1930 to Fred Roberts and Annie Cousins and grew up there with his sister Marian and brother Alton. He served in the Army during the Korean War and shortly after discharge married the love of his life Faith Jane Toups (she passed away in May 1998). They moved to California & together they raised their children on Berkley Street in Anaheim. He retired as the Plant Manager for Farmer Brothers Coffee after serving 35 years, many of them as their top salesman with the company before joining the management team in 1980.

Tony & Faith enjoyed many years traveling in their camper with their children, hosting countless Berkley Street parties including the special Christmas parties where Santa always showed up (this tradition continues to this day!). In his earlier years he enjoyed being Boy Scout Troop leader, coaching his son’s baseball & also playing on his work team. An excellent dancer, he and his wife Faith spent much of their time on the dance floor. When they weren’t dancing, they were bowling on a Vegas league with many of their closest friends.

In retirement, he enjoyed traveling with his RV club & trips with the Senior Center. He was active in his mobile home association & The American Legion. His legacy includes 13 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and 7 great-great grandchildren, who were all so special to him. Even at the age of 94, you could often find him on FaceTime with his loved ones. He loved playing Phase 10 with his family, and games on his computer. Bullfrog loved his biscuits and gravy & faithfully ate them every morning for decades.

He was a kind and loving husband, father, friend, and neighbor. He has now joined the love of his life in Heaven, his eternal home.
