Ian Matthew Ryan

He was born on January 24th, 1990 in Oneonta, NY, the son of Patricia S. Ryan and George Singleton.

Ian graduated from Unatego High School, attending college at SUNY Cobleskill, receiving a Bachelor’s in Information Technology. After graduation, he held jobs at Santander Bank and athenahealth in Information Security.

Ian had a deep love of music, playing in a few bands in the Oneonta area and enjoyed playing music on his guitar and piano. He was also a gifted lyricist, writing a number of songs that he performed. Outside of work and music, he enjoyed reading and hiking in nature. He will always be remembered for his infectious smile and creativity. He was so loved by his family and friends, with whom he enjoyed spending time, especially in the forests in New Hampshire.

He is survived by his siblings, Connor (Alexandra) Ryan of Watertown, MA and Victoria (Karim) Ryan of Boulder, CO; nephew, Jackson Ryan; aunts, Christine Ryan of Oneonta, NY, Karyn Sorbera of Hayward, CA, Tina (Michael) Matauic of Saylorsburg, PA, Glenna (John) Usenia of Lynn, MA, Gail Kehoe of Lynn, MA; uncle Gary (Leatrice) Singleton of Sutton, MA; cousins Maedbh (Chris) Ryan; Kelly, Mia, Alex, and Daniel Sorbera; Tina, Mike, Jennifer, and Billy Matauic; Michelle (Michael) Nadeau and long-time friend, Dan Muldoon.

Ian was predeceased by his parents, Patricia Ryan and George Singleton, his grandparents, Gloria and William Ryan, and his cousin, Corey Sorbera.

Calling hours for Ian will be held Monday, February 13, 2023 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Lester R. Grummons Funeral Home, 14 Grand Street, Oneonta, New York 13820, followed by a time of sharing at 4:00 PM.

Ian will be laid to rest in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Emmons, NY in the spring.
