I was so sorry to hear of Richard’s passing. We had some wonderful memories together and he was one of the most kind, funny, considerate people I´ve know. While we lost touch over the last number of years, I have always cherished our time together. I still have some of his paintings, jewelry and pieces of my own Indian art that he helped me find and educated me about. My sincere condolences to the entire family. May his memory be forever a blessing.

One year and a lifetime has gone by. It's amazing how quickly time flies, from morning to night, from wake up to sleep. The good news for our loved ones is, they're all in an incredibly beautiful and peaceful place, surrounded by love and loved ones. We can take solace in those beautiful thoughts. Live on Bacho, you will never be forgotten.

Dear Karen and Kristin and Family,

I was very saddened to learn of  Rich's passing.  Known as "Dick" at the time, he was the liveliest member of our "gang" at Benson High School -- clever, quick-witted, sardonic and always fun to be around.   An outstanding athlete who cut a fine figure in his letterman's sweater.   I'm sorry I lost touch with him over the years but happy that he clearly had a wonderful family.  My condolences to all of you.

I just wanted you to know that Rich gave me the nick name of "Bubble Head" and actually made up a song that was sung at all our parties.  It always floored my dates except for the one girl who has been my wife for 53 years... she thought it was cute... go figure.  Rich  will always be remembered as the most creative brother at Sigma Chi.  

Nance and I are on an extended trip throughout the U.S. but I would appreciate meeting you when we get back in October... I have a picture I would like to give you that you really should have because it portrays Rich as he would want to be remembered by his brothers at Sigma Chi.

Rich Bachmann was one funny dude and a hell of a nice guy. He always injected enthusiasm onto anything we did as a group.  In the 1960s, tubing down the Salt River was one of my favorite weekend escapes. "Bacco" nicknamed me "River Rat". That nickname is on my Sigma Chi mug in my office today. It always reminds me the fun times in the Sigma Chi house and of Bacco. I will miss seeing him at the Christmas Eve Eve gatherings.  I pray his family will  be comforted by happy memories of a life with a good man and his great sense of humor. 

Karen you know Rich well, a one of a kind guy. 
Sigma Chi selected boys-to-men that were one of a kind. So from the beginning he fit in with that principle. His contributions the brothers have noted.

He had balance though, on the one foot he was completely unique and willing to show it. On the other foot he had a sense of heart and brotherhood and wasn't afraid to show it.
He was subtle and bold, his own man and fully a brother. We cherished him.

You must have had quite a life with him. Lucky you and all close to him .  May his memory be eternal,  Paul   

To Karen, family and friends. I was fortunate enough to see Rich at the last Sigma Chi, Christmas Eve Eve party, at our favorite brewery. We were fortunate enough to do a group huddle and tell stories about the wild days. Rich's side of those stories always seem to get bigger and better and included things we never knew – probably because they didn't happen but it didn't matter, it was still hysterical and he was such a great guy. We will miss him on Christmas Eve Eve and all the days in between. He led the good life, he was a good friend, a good brother and was so many "goods"-- now that is a life well lived!

Rest in peace Bacho knowing your nickname for me in the pledge line [Gopher] has stuck for over 50 years.

Please accept my sincere condolences for  the loss of your life mate.  As you know, I had the pleasure of working with Rich on a couple of projects over the last few years.  I will always cherish the memories of LOA'sO as we combined forces to get the job done.  Everybody at the Sig House had a certain "peculiarity" and he was no exception.  He excelled at sizing up the other brothers and coming up with  perfect nicknames that many of us still use to this day. when referring to each other.   (Pear, Rat, Buddha, Beeper, Flea, Titty, Skid Lid, Rabbit, etc., etc.,)  We will hoist a brew for him this December 23 and keep him in our hearts forever.  RIP Bacho-you made a difference.

I remember Rich as one of the power players at the Sig House. Always there with a "kind "word to make our day. I became "walrus" and wore it well. He was one of the brothers that made the years at Sigma Chi a time we will NEVER forget. Thank You Rich for being the unique Brother you were.    Ron Hendrix

The Leahys send our many condolences to "Bacho's" family.  Who can forget a personality like Rich's? He was smart, witty, sarcastic, and one of the great nickname-providers of the fraternity house. He had a great smile and laugh, and was a gifted artist.  He created the advertising flyers for our Sigma Chi rock Band the Baga Grooveez.  We have a couple of his paintings in my house, and I was lucky to have seen him a few times, in the last number of years, during our visits to Phoenix. Long live Rich Bachman's memory.

I was a Sigma Chi with Rich at ASU.  He was a great brother and friend with a tremendous sense of humor.  I am caught totally by surprise at his passing.  Last saw him about 6 years ago in Scottsdale near your home.   Please accept my condolences.

Dear Karen & Family,
I am so sad to heard of Richard's passing.  I considered him a great friend who taught me everything about collecting Native American treasures beginning about 20 years ago.  He was always very kind and I thoroughly enjoyed our talks.  He was a great teacher.  He will be very missed, and I feel incredibly grateful to have known him.
