Pablo was born January 15, 1933 in Pinar del Rio, Consolacion del Sur, Cuba to Ceferino Ondar and Julia ‘Nena’ (Morera). Pablo was the Councilmen of his town in Pinar del Rio, known by many as "Pantera". In 1959, Pablo left his family and beloved Cuba on the Presidential plane as a Cuban exile to Mexico City. He fought against Fidel Castro and the Cuban regime. After a year, he ventured to the border to start a new life in the United States, later settling in Omaha, NE. He lived his life strongly opposed to Communism, a firm believer in human rights, freedom of speech and political freedom. In the 1960’s, he was President of the Cuban Revolutionary Party of Omaha. He was an active Union 1140 member for over 25+ years and employed by Boys Town over 20+ years.
Throughout the years Pablo and his wife Debbie enjoyed traveling to Miami, Guadalajara, Cabo San Lucas, Las Vegas, Dominican Republic and California to name a few. An amazing father who prided himself that his children were bilingual and spoke Spanish fluently and knew their roots and his struggle. He was his grandkids’ biggest fan at school award ceremonies and sports events…always giving them guidance and making time to hear about their day. Pablo had immense integrity, wisdom, kindness and tremendous love of family and enjoyed many lifelong friendships. A remarkable and blessed 91 years of life.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife Debra; children Pablo (Juana) of Stockton, CA, Marisol (Juan) of Stockton, CA, Renee of Omaha, NE, Julia (Victor) of Omaha, NE; cherished Abuelo to many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brother Virgilio of Hialeah, FL; sisters Mirian Rodriguez of Fairview Heights, IL, Migdalia Ondar Faget of Havana, Cuba; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters Rosa and Graciela.
Pablo's absence leaves a void in the hearts of all who knew him. The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation and gratitude given by many family and friends for the support and comfort during this time of loss.
