“In His time”
“The story of my life”
Jim was born in St. Paul, MN on January 14, 1980 and always loved the cold. Daddy Jim had a relatively short life as he completed his assignments for eternity at the age of 44 and moved to his forever home on September 16, 2024 in Omaha, NE surrounded by his beloved family and friends. In those 44 years, Jim lived a life marked by generosity, passion, a fighting spirit, hard work, and love. Daddy Jim earned Mommy Julie’s love and affection because they are the complete opposites of each other. Opposites attract and balance each other out! Jim began his journey with Julie on July 3, 2003, and they recently celebrated their 21st marriage anniversary. Even though Daddy Jim and Mommy Julie contrast each other in nearly every way, the most important things in life the two of them have in common - they both love Jesus and they both love their family.
Daddy Jim and Mommy Julie are blessed with nine children, including a rainbow baby sent by their forever-6 year old daughter Esther at the end of 2023. Daddy Jim used to joke about “one and done” but it seems the good Lord had a different plan up His sleeve for the Desrosiers family. As Jim was well aware, the Lord’s ways are not our ways and the Lord’s thoughts are not our thoughts - and sometimes this seems to be for our advantage and blessing (a large family!) and other times it seems to work against us (losing a daughter to brain cancer). Either way, Jim knows that God is working ALL things for our good by bringing us closer to Him and shaping us to be more like Him. As long as Jim’s short journey brings others closer to Jesus so they can also spend eternity in Heaven with Him and Jim and Esther, then this unexpected close to Jim’s journey on earth is worth it.
Even at the end of his life here on this side of Heaven, Jim was thinking about how his temporary vessel could help others when he was no longer a resident of it. Jim has always been a registered organ, eye, and tissue donor. With less than 1% of registered donors actually being able to donate at the end of their earthly life, Jim, Esther, and Jesus planned the circumstances perfectly for Jim’s gifts to help other families make more memories. Jim is only the 96th donor in Nebraska this year. Even if his donations were not able to be donated directly to individuals, Jim’s gifts will still make a positive impact in the fields of medical education and research, just like Esther. How fitting that Jim should leave his earthly body behind in September - the month of childhood cancer awareness, so that even with his transition, Daddy Jim is still fighting for his daughter Esther and other “kids with ports” just like her.
James “He will Triumph” Aaron “Mountain of Strength”
9 If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by openly declaring your faith that you are saved. 11 As the Scriptures tell us, “Anyone who trusts in him will never be disgraced.” 12 Jew and Gentile are the same in this respect. They have the same Lord, who gives generously to all who call on him. 13 For “Everyone who calls on the name of the LORD will be saved.”
14 But how can they call on him to save them unless they believe in him? And how can they believe in him if they have never heard about him? And how can they hear about him unless someone tells them? 15 And how will anyone go and tell them without being sent? That is why the Scriptures say, “How beautiful are the feet of messengers who bring good news!”
A memorial visitation for James will be held Sunday, September 29, 2024 from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Westlawn-Hillcrest Funeral Home, 5701 Center St, Omaha, Nebraska 68106. A celebration of life will occur Monday, September 30, 2024 at 10:00 AM at Lifegate church, 15555 West Dodge Road, Omaha, Nebraska 68154. A burial will occur at Westlawn-Hillcrest Memorial Park, 5701 Center St, Omaha, Nebraska 68106.
