Helen was born the youngest of 4 children in Kansas on July 1, 1934, to August and Katie Feyh. When she was 5 years old the family moved to Cheyenne Wells, Colorado. She completed her schooling there and upon graduation moved to Colorado Springs to attend business school. It was there she met Stephen Turner Chuchka who was enlisted in the Air Force; and they were married on September 4, 1955.
Helen and Steve were blessed with 3 children, Stephen Michael (Mike), Kendra Lea and Shawn LaVonne.
After living in Colorado Springs, California, and Germany, they were reassigned and settled in Bellevue, Nebraska at Offutt Air Force base. Upon retirement, they purchased and operated Space Lanes bowling center in Bellevue for several years. Mamaw was well known in the family for her chicken paprikash and white cake with chocolate sauce. A big hit with the grand kids!
Helen was predeceased by her parents, sister Mabel Smith, brothers Glenn and Harold, husband Steve, and son Michael.
She is lovingly remembered by family, daughters Kendra (Doug) Almgren, Shawn Neuman (Joe Molacek), daughter-in-law, Dee (Mike) Chuchka; and grandchildren Stephen (Heather) Chuchka, Turner (Annie) Anding, Karisa (Douglas) Malchow, Taylor (Sean Tray) Bryson, Sheryl Miller, and Lisa (Bill) Pollock and families in Kansas and Colorado.
Mamaw had 7 great-grandchildren: Kincaid, Keating, and Kallahan Malchow; Carter and Sadie Anding, and Mac and Chandler Mae Bryson
A visitation for Helen will be held Friday, December 15, 2023 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Westlawn-Hillcrest Funeral Home, 5701 Center St, Omaha, Nebraska 68106, followed by a celebration of life at 4:00 PM.
