Born March 4, 1935, in Omaha, NE, Barb passed away in Raleigh, NC on Sunday, October 16 at 87 years of age. Barb was born to Horace and Jeanette Huff, graduated from Omaha Central in 1952, and had 29 years of marriage to Marvin Kirchner who passed in 1987. She is survived by her three children and seven grandchildren: Kathi Schultz (husband Paul, with children Joshua and Jillian of Littleton, CO), Kenneth Kirchner (wife Susie, with children Kira, Savannah, and Owen of Raleigh, NC), and Kim Kourkoules (husband Jason, with children Eleanor and Benjamin of Steamboat Springs, CO). Barb had a rewarding career in providing information and database support to an Omaha hospital for many years, and then finished her career directing larger scale implementations for a commercial healthcare information provider in Atlanta, GA. Upon her retirement in 2001, Barb returned to Omaha and pursued more college at Grace University where her faith continued to grow as she studied scripture. In her later years, she moved to Raleigh, NC to continue to live near family where she passed peacefully in her sleep on October 16, 2022.
A family and friends visitation for Barbara will be held Saturday, October 29, 2022 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Westlawn-Hillcrest Funeral Home, 5701 Center St, Omaha, Nebraska 68106, followed by a celebration of life at 11:00 AM.
Barb will be laid to rest next to Marvin in Westlawn-Hillcrest Memorial Park, 5701 Center St, Omaha, NE.
