Walter “Bubba” Crabtree, 86, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, June 3, 2022 at Baptist East in Memphis, TN. Bubba was born on September 19, 1935 to the late Prentiss and Annie Lou Crabtree in Independence, MS. He was a hard worker and a Mississippi Delta sharecropper through his childhood. Bubba was known as “Papa Bear” with the Troop 341 at St. Louis Church. He enjoyed being Assistant Scout Master and was everyone’s favorite. Bubba’s favorite pastime was spending time with his wife, children, and grandchildren. He also enjoyed being outdoors: hunting, fishing, cooking for fish fry’s, and deep frying the turkey for every holiday. Bubba served his country honorably in the United States Army as a Paratrooper jumping 36 times. He was an admirable and honorable man. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Walter “Jeff” Crabtree and a granddaughter, Melissa Joann Crabtree. Bubba was survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Joyce Crabtree; a son, Darryl Crabtree, and a brother, Gene T. Crabtree. He also leaves behind six grandchildren: Brandon, Zack, Zoe, Althea, Alishia, Jeffery, and a host of great grandchildren. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, June 7, 2022 at 1:00 pm with visitation beginning at 11:00 am at Brantley Funeral Home, 6875 Cockrum St. Olive Branch, MS 38654. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, June 14, 2022 at 9:00 am at West Tennessee Veteran's Cemetery, 4000 Forest Hill Irene Rd. Memphis, TN 38125.
