Terry Wayne Barnes passed away Thursday, December 30. He was born April 24, 1959, in Baldwyn, MS to Carolyn Barnes and Jimmy Barnes. When he was one year old the family moved to the Chicago area where he grew up and married his high school sweetheart Mary Ellen Monak in 1985. They had one son, Travis Wayne Barnes before moving to Olive Branch in 1994 where another son, Tyler Nicolas Barnes was born. He was a mechanic by trade, he loved working on cars and watching the races. Family and friends relied on him to keep their vehicles running. It was “call Terry” when anything went wrong. He taught his sons, Travis and Tyler a lot about how to maintain their own vehicles. He was a kind, gentle person that loved his family more than anything. He was preceded in death by his father, Jimmy Barnes, and step father Roger Tangery. He leaves behind his wife of 36 years Mary Ellen Barnes, his sons Tyler Nicolas Barnes, Travis Wayne Barnes(Miranda), two-month-old twin grandsons, Rowan and Cassian Barnes, his mother Carolyn Tangery, all of Olive Branch. He also leaves many friends, cousins, and other family members.
The family will receive friends for a time of visitation at Brantley Funeral Home on Monday, January 3, 2022 from 5-7 pm. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 am on Tuesday, January 4, 2022, also at Brantley Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Autumn Woods Cemetery.
