Maxine Vaughn Stallings, born August 23, 1932 in the Lewisburg community of Olive Branch, Mississippi, died January 18, 2024 in Oxford, Mississippi, with family by her side. Maxine retired from U.S. Steel Corporation after 25 years there as a statistician. She graduated from Messick High School and Miller-Hawkins Business College in Memphis, Tennessee. She loved Maples Memorial United Methodist Church where she was an enthusiastic volunteer and member of the United Methodist Women and Wesleyan Sunday School class. Maxine was preceded in death by parents, Mr. and Mrs. Preston Vaughn (Emma), her husband Kenneth M. Stallings, and step-son Kenneth M. Stallings, Jr. She leaves her sister Sadie Herrington, daughter Deanna Mackie, step-son Gene Stallings (Anita), granddaughters Lindsey Vance (Miller) and Mary Leigh Mackie, grandsons Bert Stallings, Ric Stallings (Heather), Pete Stallings, and Ryan Stallings, great-grandchildren Julia Stallings, Garrett Stallings, Mary Rimes Vance and Fountain Vance, nephews Darryl Herrington (Rosemary) and Duane Herrington, and several great- and great-great-nieces and nephews. The family requests any memorials be sent to Maples Memorial United Methodist Church or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. A visitation for Maxine will be held Sunday, January 28, 2024 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Maples Memorial United Methodist Church, 8745 Goodman Rd, Olive Branch, MS 38654. A funeral service will occur Sunday, January 28, 2024 from 2:00 PM to 2:45 PM, 8745 Goodman Rd, Olive Branch, MS 38654. A committal service will occur Sunday, January 28, 2024 from 2:50 PM to 3:00 PM at Blocker Cemetery, 9501 Pigeon Roost Rd, Olive Branch, MS 38654.
