Julia Carol Downs, 69, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, November 18, 2022 at Methodist Germantown. Carol was born on June 18, 1953 to Robert and Julia Busby in Memphis, TN. She was a devoted sister, mother, grandmother and friend. Carol enjoyed: gardening, listening to music, shopping, and being on Facebook. In her free time you could find her doing puzzles, playing games, or on occasion, rescuing cats. Carol was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Julia Busby; her husband, Billy Ray Downs, and her sister, Judy Lacy. She leaves behind three children, Tracy Shawn Busby (Tracey), Amber Rae Curry (Michael), Julie Nicole Schubert (Danny); two step daughters, Beth and Heather Downs; a sister, Lisa Frizzell (Joe), and two brothers, Ricky Busby (Connie), Roger Busby (Teresa). Carol also leaves behind eight grandchildren: Ava, Raymie, Leila, Brittany, Jaymee, Myesha, Whittany, and James. A funeral service will be held on Friday, November 25, 2022 at 2:00 pm with visitation beginning at 12:00 pm at Brantley Funeral Home, 6875 Cockrum St. Olive Branch, MS 38654. Burial will follow at Macedonia MB Cemetery, 14910 Cathy Rd. Byhalia, MS 38611.
