Joe Kenneth Ingram, 89, of Olive Branch, MS went to be with the Lord on January 26, 2023. Joe was born to the late John I. and Thelma Parks Ingram on September 17, 1933 in Memphis, TN. He is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Carolyn Faye Hillhouse Ingram; his cousins: Sue Barkley (Gary) of Hermitage, TN; Ken Parks (Brenda) of Olive Branch, MS; Nancy Wiggs of Memphis, TN; many other cousins who live in other parts of the country; sister-in-law, Janelle Patterson; and a special nephew, Joe Hillhouse (Gayle). Another very special person in Joe’s life was Taylor Bond, whom he knew from birth. Taylor’s parents, Stan and Cindy Bond were good friends of Joe’s. Joe graduated from Memphis Tech High School in 1951. He completed the steam fitters Local 614 apprenticeship program in 1956. At this time, he was drafted into the US Army and spent his overseas time in Hielbron, Germany where his wife joined him. They traveled to all the adjoining countries during this time which they enjoyed very much. Joe went to work for Hughes Mechanical contracting Co. in 1959 as a fitter and advanced to superintendent. In 1975 he opened his business, Ingram Mechanical Contracting Co., which he retired from in September of 2000. In his younger years, Joe was an avid hunter and fisherman of crappie and bream. He earned his pilot’s license at the age of 44 and really enjoyed his flying days. He was a lifetime member of the EEA Pilot’s Association and enjoyed going to the airshows in Oshkosh, WI and Lakeland, FL. For 20 years, Joe’s hobby was building home-built airplanes. His religious affiliation was Methodism and was a member of Emmanuel Methodist Church. The family will receive friends for a time of visitation at Brantley Funeral Home on Tuesday, January 31, 2023 from 1-2 pm with a funeral service to begin at 2:00 pm. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Midtown Cemetery.
