Allen Walker Wade, Jr., 73, of Olive Branch, went into the loving arms of Jesus on November 13, 2023. Born on December 30, 1949 in St. Louis, MO, Allen graduated from University City High School in St. Louis.
At the age of 19, he joined the US Army, and faithfully served during the Vietnam War. Allen worked for the United States Postal Service for 33 years. On May 25, 1990, He married the love of his life, Cathy Lee Thornton, and they built a wonderful life together. He was a huge St. Louis Cardinals baseball fan, and he enjoyed coaching his sons in youth baseball leagues.
Allen is survived by his wife, Cathy; two sons, Allen Ray Wade and JT Barnett (Nikki); two grandsons, Keegan Barnett and Peyton Barnett; his sister, Brenda Taylor; two nephews, Ed Taylor (Patsy) and James Allen Rathbone; four nieces, Karen Whatley (Chuck), Christine "Chrissy" Clever (Dale), Cindy Clark, and Joanie Harris; two sisters-in-law, Trudy Dickson and Vicki Grimm; and a host of loving family and friends.
Allen was saved by his Lord, Jesus Christ, at the age of 45, and he faithfully devoted his life to Him, since that day. One of his favorite passages that he read many times, and now he can actually hear, was Matthew 25:23 "His master replied, Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful in a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your Master's happiness!"
The family gather to receive friends on Thursday, November 16, beginning at 10:00 am, and funeral services will follow at 11:00 am, at Broadway Baptist Church, 7400 Getwell Road in Southaven. Interment will held at a later date at West Tennessee Veterans Cemetery. Lasting memorials in Allen's memory may be made to Broadway Baptist Church.
