He was an Electrical Maintenance mechanic at Sargeants in Old Town for many years. He was saddened that so many of his co- workers predeceased him.
He enjoyed the Boston Red Sox, fishing, hunting, gardening and renovating antique tractors and automobiles. He loved muffins for breakfast and always requested an extra slice of tomato (actually four) with any sandwich. In his later years he enjoyed driving around town checking out his land as well as any new activities.
He was predeceased by his eldest son Kim McCormick.
He is survived by his son, Philip and wife Debbie of Franklin, CT and his grandson Joseph McCormick and wife Jessica of Mansfield,CT; three brothers, Gregory McCormick of British Columbia, Neville McCormick and Richard McCormick of New Brunswick, Canada; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition he is survived by long term companion Judy Nickerson of Old Town, Maine.
Family and friends are invited to call 10 – 11 am, Monday, February 7, 2022 at Birmingham Funeral Home, 438 Main St. Old Town, where a funeral service will be held at 11 am. A celebration of life is planned for later this year with his family in Canada. Stewart was unable to visit Canada during the pandemic so his cremains will travel to Canada for the celebration. Following this last trip he will be interred at Riverside Cemetery in Orono next to his beloved son Kim.
