Following graduation from John Bapst High School in 1949, Corinne went to work at Metropolitan Life. In 1953 she married Russell Baker of Bradley, where they raised 4 children. Homemaker does not adequately describe Corinne. One minute she could be found playing ping pong with her children, and the next she would be preparing a fabulous meal. Having grown up on a farm in Milford, Corinne loved to cook, often baking for church fairs, canning fresh vegetables from Russell's garden, or making yearly Halloween treats much anticipated by the neighborhood children.
In addition to being the best mother anyone could hope for, Corinne was guardian to her younger sister Cecile throughout her adult life. Over the years Corinne also cared for her aging parents, mother-in-law, and her husband in his final months. With no formal medical training, she learned to provide a nursing level of care to all of them, a truly remarkable woman. In more recent years, Corinne enjoyed jigsaw and crossword puzzles, playing cards, and visits from family and friends.
Corinne was predeceased by her husband Russell, siblings Alphonse Desrosiers, Constance Martin, Edward Desrosiers, and Cecile Desrosiers.
She is survived by children Gregory Baker and wife Mary of North Windham, Mark Baker and husband Darren Morgan of Glenburn; Brenda Eldridge and husband John of Brunswick, and Linda Kothman of Scarborough; grandchildren Jason Baker, Sarah Baker, Chelsea Smith, Emily Kothman, Erin Eldridge, and Kathryn Eldridge; Godchild Maria Desrosiers; several nieces and nephews; sister-in-law, Virginia Hill. The family would like to thank the staff at Ross Manor for their care.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10AM Friday August 2, 2019 at Parish of the Resurection, St. Ann’s Catholic Church, Bradley. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery, Bradley. All are invited to a luncheon in the downstairs church hall immediately following the services.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Development Office, Shriners Hospitals for Children, 51 Blossom Street, Boston, MA 02114, or online at donate.lovetotherescue.org. Arrangements are in the care of Birmingham Funeral Home, Old Town.
Rest in peace, dear mother. You will be sadly missed.
