Susan C Degange

Susan Carol DeGange Comey passed away Tuesday, Feb. 16, 2016. She was born on Aug. 13, 1958 to Shirley and the late Joesep DeGange. Susan, a lifelong resident of Old Saybrook, is survived by her loving husband Peter Comey and brother Paul DeGange. Susan’s spirit is carried on by her two daughters, Ming and Alana Comey. Susan recently retired from DDS where she worked as a social worker for 29 years. Susan worked hard to break the stigma of developmental disability. She advocated for them who no one else would. Susan had a great love for making a difference, but her real love was her daughters. In them, she instilled a child-like silliness and confident disposition. She shared with them her passion for dance and theater. Susan was not constrained by the edges of a curtain. The world was her stage and she danced until her final act. Susan was truly a special and strong woman, who fought for her life until the very end. She will be dearly missed. We pray that she has found peace and will continue to look after those who were blessed enough to know her. A private service will be held for close family and friends.
