Charles Basil Risko, 88, of Old Saybrook, passed away on Tuesday January 1, 2013 at his home accompanied by his wife Assunta and caretaker Rosella.
Charles was born on March 7, 1924 in Bridgeport CT to John and Mary Risko. He graduated from Central High School in 1942. He later served his country during World War II in the United States Army. During his time in the Army he earned the Rank of Second Lieutenant. He married his sweetheart, Assunta “Dollie” Sicignano in February of 1944. They welcomed a daughter, their only child, Susan Risko in April of 1952. He owned and operated Risko Chrysler, Plymouth and Dodge in Old Saybrook for many years. He was an extremely successful and charismatic business man. Charles was involved in the community and known to many for his witty and charming personality. Upon his retirement, he and Dollie enjoyed their time traveling the world. They split their time living in Connecticut and Florida, where he enjoyed golfing, watching baseball, spending time with his grandchildren and family and friends.
He was predeceased by his beloved daughter Susan Risko Wollschleager in 1983. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Assunta Risko, his grandson Jonathan Charles Wollschleager and his wife Christine (Middletown, NJ), granddaughter Jamie Angela Wollschleager (Norfolk, VA), and six great grandchildren that he adored - Sophia Wollschleager, Gwyneth Wollschleager, Sebastian Wollschleager, Jace Wollschleager-Carter, Ava Carter and Bailey Cleveland.
