Dr. Robert C. Recor, of Old Lyme, CT, crossed the finish line for a final time on the morning of September 9th, 2022. Bob, at the time of his passing was surrounded by his family, his wife of 60+ years Doris Oertel Recor, his son Robert who resides in Norwich, CT and Jonathan who lives in Westbrook, Ct. He and Doris have two grandchildren, Curtis Recor of Snoqualmie, WA and Traci Rossiter French of Gold Bar, WA.
Bob was born in New Haven, CT in 1937, the son of Frank Recor and Hazel Recor, he is survived by his sister Norma Amodio, who lives in Waterbury, CT.
Bob was a graduate of Palmer College of Chiropractic, in Davenport, Iowa, where he excelled as a student. Following graduation, Bob and Doris moved to Westerly, RI where he established his practice of 50 plus years. Bob was active for the entirety of his career in giving back to the community. He was past-President of the Westerly Chamber of Commerce, and was a co-founder of the Westerly Track Club, where for many, many years both he and Doris gave their all, in support of the sport he loved.
Bob was an inspiration to all who knew him, never hesitant to offer his knowledge, expertise, and assistance, especially to his fellow runners. Throughout his career, Bob mentored many young chiropractors, who often came to him seeking advice and consul.
There will be no formal visiting hours, or graveside service. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Bob’s name can be made to Palmer College of Chiropractic, St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, High Hopes Therapeutic Riding.
