Charlton. He graduated from Lebanon Valley College in 1974. He married Mary Ellen Unangst on
May 13th 1978. Don was a CPA for many years and owned and operated his own accounting firm in
Old Lyme.
Born and raised on Long Island Sound, Don acquired a love of the sea and of fishing at an early
age. He leaves his family and friends with countless happy memories of fishing and boating together.
All who knew Don well know that he was at home on the water, from the quietest bays to the Atlantic
Ocean's Hudson Canyon.
In addition to the great satisfaction of being on the water, Don also found many hours of relaxation
cooking and tending to his vegetable garden. These were traditions passed down from generations
which his family continues.
For the past 20 years, Don was a member of the Thames Club in New London. His favorite activity was the men's bowling team, and the couples team with his wife Mary. He leaves behind many wonderful friends from the club.
Don will be remembered for his dedication to the Boy Scouts. He was an Eagle Scout and for
many years was the treasurer of the local Old Lyme Troop. In lieu of flowers, please offer
donations to the Boy Scouts of Old Lyme, Troop # 26.
Mr. Charlton is survived by his loving wife Mary, his daughter Laura C. Charlton, his two sons
Christopher M. and Jeffrey J. Charlton and his sister Nancy Herbert.
