Mr. Nash served in the Army branch of the United States Armed Forces. His military discipline carried over into every area of his life. He was stern, but loving. He was a dedicated hard worker and held high standards in the care of his tools and equipment.
Mr. Nash was an outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was compassionate about and cared for his cows and other animals on his property. Fifteen deer would daily appear outside his kitchen window waiting for him to feed them. He had a fierce love for his family and will be missed greatly.
Mr. Nash is preceded in death by father, James Oakley Nash; mother, Leona (Brooks) Nash; brothers, Robert “Bobby” Nash and Michael C. Nash; loving wife of 62 years, Rachel Nash; and son, James Michael Nash. He is survived by daughter, Gwen Nash; sons, Mark Nash (Anne) and Stacey Lee Nash; daughter-in-law, Ranae Nash; sister, Judy Hughes; grandchildren Jena Davis, Krista Gafford, Tosha Michelle Powell, Jeremy Neil Nash, Michael Lee Nash, Beth Shiver, Alex McCoin, and Eric McCoin; great grandchildren Michael Macauthor Nash, Madyson Rose Nash, Cooper O’Neal Shiver, Bentley Carter Shiver, Madison Sawyer, Jackson Sawyer, and Dillon Gafford; sister-in-law, Ruth Moss; cousin, Delores Williams; and canine companion, “Baby”.
There will be a Gathering of Family & Friends at Hermitage Funeral Home Tuesday, January 17, from 4pm – 8pm, and Wednesday, January 18, from 9am – 10am. A Celebration of Life will follow in the Tulip Grove Room at the funeral home at 10am with Dr. Judson Hays, officiating. Neil Nash, Lee Nash, Alex McCoin, Eric McCoin, Stanley Tyler, and Gary Tyler will serve as pallbearers. Following the service, Mr. Nash will be laid to rest next to his wife in the mausoleum at Hermitage Memorial Gardens.
