Michael “Mike” Stephen Jackson, age 69, of Donelson, TN and Davenport, FL, passed from this mortal realm on July 20, 2021. Mike was a former Nashville Firefighter of 35 years, golfer, early adopter to all things new and shiny, "Mr. Fix-it" to many, and one of the first men to co-own a Betamax in Nashville.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy Foster Jackson, father, Joe Wendell Jackson (Martha), and grandmother, Provie Mae Tippit. He is survived by his wife, Jami Jones Jackson. He leaves behind one daughter, Jessica Jackson Russell (2 grandchildren), and one son, Joseph “Joey” Michael Jackson (Mackenzie) (3 grandchildren), from his marriage to Teresa Evetts Jackson Horton. He also leaves behind one stepdaughter, Roxana Guy (3 grandchildren), and one stepson, Jeremy Hopper (4 grandchildren). Other surviving family members include Jean and Frank Jackson of Hermitage, TN, with daughter Debra Jackson Staggs, and Wendell Jackson, his one and only brother. He also leaves behind his brand new super fancy Galaxy HP flip phone...which is quite dreamy in case you’re wondering.
Mike was raised on the mean streets of Donelson, where he claimed the men were men, and so were half the women. He spoke fondly of his childhood friends, Purple Haze band members, fire department brotherhood, and all his golfing and motorcycle buddies across the nation. Mike loved nothing more than a long night of trivia, traversing the virtual domain, and cohorting with master debaters. Mike always went out of his way to help others and we will literally be lost without him.
