Lon Earl Roberts, a beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend passed away on December 21, 2024 at the age of 82. He was born January 6, 1942 in Elmwood TN. and spent much of his life in the Carthage area before moving to Nashville in 1950. Earl was preceded in death by his parents, Livy and Allie Roberts, wife Franda J Roberts, brothers and sisters, Billy, Reba, Emogene and Willene, and a daughter, Debbie (Scott) Winans.
Earl is survived by his devoted wife of 30 years, Janette Roberts, son Stacey (Kris) Roberts, stepdaughters, Tawanna (Justin), Twyla (Bruce) and his cherished grandchildren Scotty, Jada, Logan, Matthew, Faryn, Billy, Bobby, Joshua, Joseph and Sarah, and his great granddaughter Brazzel along with a host of other relatives.
Earl began his work career at Worthan Bag. Earl then had 30 years of dedicated service at Leggett and Platt, where he served as the head of maintenance until his retirement in 2004. During his career, he was known for his strong work ethic and being a perfectionist. He was loved and respected by his colleagues and loved the people he worked for and with.
Earl also had a deep passion for the outdoors. He enjoyed camping, fishing and horseshoes. His favorite activity was beating the family at miniature golf and corn hole. Earl was also a wood craftsman, where he enjoyed working with his hands and building and making furniture, yard decor and anything else he could make out of wood. He was known for his love of his big Dodge Ram trucks. Earl was an active member of the Broadmoor Church of God, where he contributed his time and talents.
A gathering of family and friends will be held Thursday December 26, 2024 from 3:00PM – 8:00PM and Friday December 27th from 11:00AM – 2:00PM at the Hermitage Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens 535 Shute Lane, Old Hickory, TN. A celebration of life service will be held at 2:00PM in the Tulip Grove Chapel of the funeral home, followed by interment in the Garden of Peace at Hermitage Memorial Gardens.
