L. R. Brown owned three skating facilities in Tennessee and was well-known to all rink owners for his inspirational ways of management in the roller skating industry. He was a member of the Roller Skating Association for 57 years and was gracious in contributing his time to help other owners with their businesses.
Mr. Brown served on the RSA Board of Directors and was inducted into the RSA Hall of Fame in 2002. He received the 2007 Life Membership Award, the 2011 Victor J. Brown Operator of the Year Award, and the 1979 and 1984 Al Kish Attaway Award from the RSA.
L. R. Brown was born December 26, 1939 in Walnut Grove, Alabama to parents, Lee Roy and Eunice (Still) Brown. He is preceded in death by his parents and by his brother, Lee Brown.
Mr. Brown is survived by two daughters Donya B. (Charlie) Switzer and Stacey B. Sullivan; four grandchildren Taylor (Grant) Johnson, Carter Sullivan, Sarah Katherine Sullivan, and Andrew Sullivan; one great-grandchild, William Hayes Johnson; and one sister Beverly Saint.
There will be a Gathering of Family & Friends Friday, October 15, 2021 in the Tulip Grove Room at Hermitage Funeral Home from 11am until 1pm. A Celebration of Life will follow at 1pm with interment, immediately following, in the Garden of Rachel at Hermitage Memorial Gardens.
