John Mark Baker 55, of Spanish Fort, Alabama, departed this earthly life for his heavenly home on April 13, 2024 after a swift battle with cancer. He was born on November 12, 1968 in Nashville, Tennessee to parents, Troy and Dorothy Baker.
Mark attended Donelson Christian Academy in Donelson, Tennessee and graduated with the Class of 1987. Following graduation, he studied at Tennessee Technological University and earned and bachelor’s degree and a Master’s of Science Degree in Civil Engineering.
Mark spent the majority of his career at the United States Army Corps of Engineers. He was well respected as the most patient and thorough of project managers. He was a loving father, loved to work outside, and could have hilarious conversations.
Mark is preceded in death by his father, Herschel Troy Baker; and his mother, Dorothy (Vantrease) Baker. He is survived by his daughter, Kaitlyn Baker; his son, Brenden Baker; his brother, Steve Baker (Linda); and a nephew, Andy Baker (Leanne).
Mark will be laid to rest on Monday, April 22, 2024 at 10:00am in the Garden of Time at Hermitage Memorial Gardens, 535 Shute Lane, Old Hickory, TN 37138. A memorial service will be held at a later date in Spanish Fort, Alabama. Details forthcoming.
