Mr. Cratty attended and graduated from Hendersonville High School. He was introduced to a young lady, Constance “Connie” Duke, on a blind date and realized he had met the girl of his dreams. They married and remained so for fifty-five years until his passing this week.
Professionally, Mr. Cratty worked in the maintenance garage at DuPont until debilitating back issues forced his retirement. Even retired, he still remained a car enthusiast and even restored one. He loved the outdoors, especially deer hunting and farming. At one time he raised “beefalo” on his farm and sold them for meat. There was a time he even sold jewelry and guns. Mr. Cratty was a born-again believer and enjoyed being a part of Impact Fellowship Church along with his wife, Connie. He loved well . . . was well-loved . . . and will be greatly missed.
Mr. Cratty is preceded in death by his father, James Dotson Cratty; his mother, Edith Irene (Overton) Cratty; a sister, Cheryl Scott; and a nephew, Derick Crain. He is survived by his loving wife of fifty-five years, Constance “Connie” Duke Cratty; and, his daughter, Kimberly Cratty. Mr. Cratty also leaves behind three grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
There will be a Gathering of Family & Friends on Tuesday, July 23, 2024 at the Hermitage Funeral Home from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM. A Celebration of Life service will follow at 12:00 PM in the Tulip Grove Chapel at the funeral home with Pastor Cecil Boswell, pastor of Impact Fellowship, and retired Pastor Jim Johnson co-officiating. Following the service, Mr. Cratty will be laid to rest in the Garden of the Apostles at Hermitage Memorial Gardens.
The family would like to send special “thanks” to High Point Hospice in Gallatin, TN; the Veranda in Gallatin, TN; his buddy, Donna Harbison; and the congregation of Impact Fellowship.
