Gary Glyn O’Guin, 82, of Crossville, Tennessee gave up his long battle with Cancer and Alzheimer’s Disease to be with his Lord and Savior on November 14, 2024. He was born on April 4, 1942 in Perry County, Tennessee to parents, Homer and Zula O’Guin.
Next to his relationship to God and his family, Gary valued his relationship with the deaf. Gary was an Industrial Engineer with Genesco Shoes for many years. But his engineering mind didn’t stop at work. He was meticulous in every way and was always finding a way to make a repair. With his own hands, he built the log house he and his family lived in for forty years. He took great pride in that accomplishment. In his spare time he enjoyed trail riding and playing the harmonica. His wife, Linda, dragged him into several singing groups, but of course, he enjoyed it.
Gary is preceded in death by his father, Homer James O’Guin; his mother, Zula Ann Simmons; brother, Ronnie O’Guin; a son, Russell “Rusty” O’Guin; and a nephew, Randy “Roho” O’Guin. He is survived by his loving wife of forty-five years, Linda (Allen) O’Guin; daughters, Crystal Leigh Forsyth (Lee) and Poppy Dawn Steele (Chris); grandchildren Parker Dunn (Kevin), Liam Fitzgerald Glenn, Portia Fay McComb (Ryan), and Ruth Ann Spillers (Grant); and sister-in-law, Judy O’Guin. Gary also leaves behind nine great grandchildren and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
There will be a Gathering of Family & Friends for Gary on Monday, November 18, from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM, and on Tuesday, November 19, from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM, at Hermitage Funeral Home. A Celebration of Gary’s Life will follow at 12:00 PM in the Tulip Grove Chapel at the funeral home with Chris Steele and Rev. Alan Judd officiating. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. For those who cannot attend, the service will be live-streamed on FaceBook. Simply go to the "Hermitage Funeral Home & Memorial Gardens" page. The live-stream will begin approximately fifteen minutes before the service begins. Following the service, Gary will be laid to rest in the Garden of Faith at Hermitage Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Gary’s memory to Gate Communications, 330 Mallory Station Road #10, Franklin, TN 37027 (www.GateCommunications.org) or to the Crossville Church of Christ (Marked: Hurricane Relief Efforts), 423 North Main Street, Crossville, TN 38555. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared with the O’Guin family at HermitageFH.com.
