Mr. Scott was born in a little clinic in Old Hickory, TN, attended the only schools in Old Hickory at that time (DuPont Elementary and DuPont High School), and worked as a pipefitter at DuPont for thirty-seven years before retiring.
Mr. Scott can be characterized as never having met a stranger and always put everyone around him at ease. He was always happy and loved to tell jokes to make others laugh. He “loved with his whole heart.” Mr. Scott was a Christian and loved the Lord he served. He and his wife were members of Metro Baptist Church in Goodlettsville.
Among his many interests and accomplishments, Mr. Scott was a Past Master of the Old Hickory Lodge #598 F&AM and was the Worthy Grand Patron of the Grand Chapter of Tennessee Order of the Easter Star in 2009. In his spare time, he enjoyed playing golf – and when he wasn’t playing it, he enjoyed watching it on the television.
Mr. Scott is predeceased by his father, Lois Butler Scott; his mother, Ila Pennington Scott; a brother, Raymond Scott (Joyce); and a sister, Margaret Green; He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Loma “Dee” Scott; his daughters Sharon Tegarden, Sandy Holliman (Timmy), Shelley Louzensky (Bryan); nine grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; brothers Alvin Scott (Tinny) and Gary Scott (Paula); a brother-in-law, Joe Green; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
There will be a Gathering of Family & Friends at Hermitage Funeral Home on Sunday, July 30, from 4pm – 8pm. There will be a Celebration of Life on Monday, July 31, at 10am in the Tulip Grove Room at the funeral home. Following the service, Mr. Scott will be laid to rest in Mausoleum III in the Garden of Memories at Hermitage Memorial Gardens.
