Michael John Rampino, 80, of Manalapan entered into Eternal Rest on Sunday, August 16, 2015 at Centrastate Medical Center in Freehold, NJ. Born in Brooklyn, NY to the late Frank and Josephine (Bove) Rampino, Michael moved to Staten Island, NY where he resided for 20 years before moving to Covered Bridge in Manalapan, NJ 8 years ago.
Michael was a proud United States Army veteran. Before his service with the military, Michael was a Doo-Wop singer with “The Troys”; they cut a record and were best known for the singles “Ding-Dong” and “The Cling”.
Michael married the love of his life, the late Christina (Malfitano) Rampino. As their family grew, Michael was working for Kamco Building Supply in Brooklyn, NY as a truck driver. He was devoted to his family and during his time-off from work he and Christina looked forward to their trips to Atlantic City. His children loved their crabbing and fishing trips with Dad. Michael was a true entertainer with a quick wit and was well known for his jokes.
Michael is predeceased by beloved wife of 55 years Christina (Malfitano) Rampino and his dear sisters Angie and Chicky. He is survived by his loving children Frank (and his wife Nancy) Rampino; James (and his wife Dorene) Rampino; Joseph (and his wife Antoinette) Rampino; Chris (and his wife Lynn) Rampino; Camille Rampino and Cathy (and her husband Louis) Musto; his dear sisters Gracie, Lucie, Rosie and Stephanie. Michael is also survived by his legacy of adored grandchildren Michael Rampino, Louis Rampino, Frankie Rampino, Phillip Nieves, Francis DeLuca, James Rampino, Thomas Rampino, JeanMarie Rampino, Christopher Rampino, Joseph Rampino, Marissa Rampino, Dianna Rampino and his cherished great-grandchildren Anthony DeLuca and Victoria DeLuca.
Friends and relatives are invited to attend visitation Tuesday, August 18, 2015 from 2-4pm & 7-9pm at Michael Hegarty Funeral Home 3377 US Highway 9 Old Bridge, NJ 08857. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10am Wednesday August 19, 2015 at St. Thomas More in Manalapan, NJ. A committal service with military honors will immediately follow in Maplewood Cemetery Freehold, NJ.
