Richard was born on June 21, 1934 in Seymour, Indiana to Garnet L Winchester Sr. and Mildred (Calvin) Winchester. He graduated from Columbus High School in 1952 and married Mary Frances Duckett, divorced in 1963. He later married Phyllis Ann Greenfield/Parker in 1967.
Richard served 2 years in the U.S. Army, worked at Kroehler Furniture, was a reservist on the Freemont, California Police Dept and worked for South Western Bell where he retired in 1997.
Richard was preceded in death by his wife Phyllis Greenfield Winchester of Ottawa in 1994, granddaughter, Jessica Sliger and daughter-in-law, Wendy Winchester.
Richard is survived by his children David Winchester of Emporia, KS, Daniel Parker of Gladstone, MO, Greggory Winchester of Brentwood, CA, Diana Schmidt of Ottawa, KS, Sharon Pesina and Allen Winchester of Topeka, KS; 20 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
Graveside services will be 2:00 pm, Friday, July 8, Maplewood Memorial Cemetery, 2000 Prairie St, Emporia, KS. Gary Clark will officiate the services. All are welcome to attend. Flowers and condolences may be sent to 1628 SW Central Park Ave Topeka, KS 66604.
