On July 3, 1961 the Wright family was blessed with the birth of a very special Son and Brother. James Bruce, “JB” as he is known, was born with Down syndrome. JB was immediately embraced and loved by his Parents, Richard and Janice, Sisters, Kim and Shari, Grandparents, Aunts, Uncles and Cousins.
Everyone who knew JB, loved him, including: Brother-in-Laws, Jerry and Ron; Nephews Christopher, Robert and Garrett; and Niece Amy. JB was a man of only a few well-chosen words, however, during family events he would be front and center with a big happy-go-lucky smile, rockin’ that extra chromosome.
JB Graduated from Shawnee Mission North high schools first special needs program. He went on to enjoy participating in local Special Olympics activities, and fundraising for various special needs programs. JB was always up for an adventure! He enjoyed swimming, boating, canoeing and traveling.
In addition to our family members, JB was blessed with a second family within the JCDS (Johnson County Developmental Supports) organization. For more than 40 years JB was supported, encouraged and loved by so many kind and skilled individuals at the workshop and residential program we cannot begin to name everyone, but they all have a special place in our family’s hearts. JB left us all with wonderful memories of Hugs and Smiles on, February 4, 2020.
Remembering a familiar lifelong phrase… “Good Job JB”
Sisters Kim and Shari will have a private burial.
